I found another Christmas tree shot in my family photo boxes. This one belonged to my mother's mom and dad. Although the shot was taken in black and white, the "fireside" effect in Ribbet warmed it up to sepia tone. I added the green border for today's December Holiday assignment- Greenery and plants. I am not sure what date this was taken, but judging from the other photos, it was probably taken around the same time as the tree from my other set of grandparents (1934- see December 4th).
@peterdegraaff Thanks Peter- this was my grandparent's tree, circa 1930's?? There's no date on it. But yes, my grandmother was a very elegant woman- classy, so her home was decorated that way too. @kerristephens Thank you Kerri!
Thank you Vikki, Brian, Damon, Alia, Dione, Nicole, Carole, Rick, and Carla! So glad you liked the shot! My memories of this home are somewhat magical and this picture fits my memories well. Although it is actually a black and white shot, I really like the way this effect warmed it up and made it more Christmassy. Interestingly I think my mother did not like the icicle tinsel because we never had it on our tree growing up- she just put on the garland tinsel, lights and ornaments. And now, so do I!
@dmortega Thank you Dorrena! Obviously, I did not take this picture! But I've been having fun posting some of my archival shots this week. @mhatch Thanks Mark! This effect was a nice addition to Ribbet's bag of magic tricks. I really like how it warmed up the shot.
really nice job, Ann. my creative brother wrote a short essay on "The Great Tinsel War" about how he and i disagreed on how to decorate with tinsel. (i was in the 'just throw the tinsel on the tree' camp; he was in the 'put the tinsel on one piece at a time ' camp)
Wow Ann this is one grand looking tree and I'm sure it was back then. Love seeing all your older family photos and I'm sure they bring lots of memories back for you =)
A grand thank you to one and all! As it is for most of us these days are busy busy busy! But I so appreciate the time you took to stop and comment on this special picture. Have a wonderful holiday!
@prttblues Thank you Bev! We weren't often at this grandparent's house for Christmas but usually some time around the holiday we did go. I don't remember the tree there being this grand so, this was many years before I appeared on the scene.
@deniseinindy Thanks Denise! It's a pretty old photo so I imagine the tree was rather large. Who knows, they may have even cut it down themselves from the property!
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri!
