Eschback Barn (Color) by olivetreeann

Eschback Barn (Color)

As some of you know I've been searching around for a list of photos to be entered in our photo club's scavenger hunt competition. I still have a few to go and some that I have are "back-ups" in case I don't find something I like better. Well, this one's a keeper! Only it will be entered in a black and white version under the "Something related to a farm in black and white". I wish I could enter it as is, because I love that reddish bush against the weathered wood, but rules are rules! So, hooray! Now I only have 9 shots to stress out about until May 31.

This is shot #2 of my pictures for Vince using his "loaner" Nikon. And it's my favorite of the week so far.
Cool barn. Great texture!

I think the weathered look has to have these brown shades and slightly greenish shades! Great focus and subject - always a neat choice!

Love the lines and textures in this.

@homeschoolmom Thank you Lisa!
@maggiemae Thank you Maggie! Yes, I do prefer the color, but the black and white version is also very strong, so I won't have a problem submitting it.
@nadaa Thank you Nada! Funny- I was thinking of you today in conjunction with this scavenger hunt. One of the items is an historical place and I was wondering if maybe you'd like to meet at Jockey Hollow? I've never been there but thought Washington's headquarter's there would be a good subject. Weekends are full, but week days are fairly open and if I remember that's better for you too. I have to have my photos taken before the 31st.

These kind of simplistic shots, really interesting composition & textures and I too love that red, it always amazes me how much beauty there is in decay.

Great composition and textures. A really lovely find. I had the same sentiments you expressed in your comments on my 'Holy Face' when I faced that veil.

Love how you caught the patterns and textures here. Beautiful job.

What a great eye you have, Ann! I love the old wood slats running horizontally and vertically. The bit of branches interrupting the patterns is both beautiful and interesting. FAV

Great shot, Ann. How are you liking the Nikon?
May 13th, 2014
@cimes1 Thank you Carole!
@pflaume Thank you Lisa! And thank you so much for the fav! This is a personal favorite of mine.
@vesna0210 Thank you Vesna!
@prttblues Thank you Bev! The Nikon is ok. I find it a bit more complicated than my Canon and I still prefer the way the Canon takes the shot- but that being said, there is a certain amount of clarity that this camera picks up that the Canon doesn't because the Canon is the low man on the totem pole as far as point and shoots go. I'm going to keep using it alongside my Canon. I'm also trying to read and understand the manual because I think I should be able to take a moon shot with this camera and so far I haven't figured out how to do it. I remember trying your method with it once before, but if didn't seem to work, so I'm convinced there's a way and it's in the manual somewhere. So, I guess I'm liking it enough to keep using it!
