Ridgebury Steeple by olivetreeann

Ridgebury Steeple

I had a lovely time at a luncheon today chatting with "old" friends and making new ones. And to top it all off the weather was marvelous! It was so great to be driving along those country roads with the sun shining away. This church steeple always fascinates me and next time I'm there, I want to find out why it is designed the way that it is. I hope you all had a great Saturday too!
Beautiful

@bruni Thank you Bruni! I'm not sure why it looks that way but it would be fun to find out the history.

yes, please find out. i like the structure and hopefully in the near future you will post a photo of the church if you haven't already. i had a good saturday, i bought some hydrangea plants and peonies and planted them on the side of the fence fronting my living room window. partner bought me two hanging plants so now we have a garden. the landlord is quite pleased, as now people are always stopping by to find out if there's any vacancy in the building. i hope we would get some flowers these summer and then i can take a photo of the building from across the street. it was a beautiful day yesterday and even today, we can't complain, really.

@summerfield Thank you Vikki! Your garden sounds lovely! You should get a discount on your rent as you are giving the landlord free advertising! hehe I just spent the last 10 minutes looking for the first picture I posted of this church which shows more of it and for the life of me I can't find it! But it's definitely been a "Monday Monday" for me but I think if you type in search "Ridgebury" or steeple it may pop up in my calendar if you really want to see it!

Reminds me of the church where John and I were married. The square steeple is very distinctive.

@allie912 Thank you Allison! Yes, it's intriguing to me. I feel it must have some significance, so I'll have to research it a little or ask someone from the congregation.

It's lovely - reminds me of a church in Norwich.. the tower had an extra section added on because the patron of the church was annoyed that a neighbouring church had been built with a higher steeple....! I'm sure God didn't mind but it seems these things were a matter of devotion to them.

@filsie65 Thank you Phil! What a fun story! Believe it or not there is a church right across the street from them! I wonder if it's a "Can you top this" steeple story here too?!
