I think this is a Clematis, but I confess I've never seen one this color before, so I'm not sure. It's a vine growing on an old section of wrought-iron railing outside the church where I work. Right now there is only one blossom but more may be on the way.
Thank you all! I will have to do some research on it- not being a master gardener I have no clue what it is and so far, it only has the one bloom, which I find a bit unusual.
I have bad news. I am getting an operation on my foot in July and won't be able to drive for 6 weeks. Then I will slowly have to learn to walk with the foot which has been operated on. So thinking it might be hard for you to visit in the fall unless it is October.
@joansmor Oh, I'm sorry to hear about the operation, but I have no problem waiting until October- not to worry! And if it means waiting until next Spring-- please don't feel bad extending the delay- I am very blessed to have an extremely flexible work schedule! Take care of your health first and everything else will fall into place later.
@olivetreeann Would you be staying with me when you come? If so next Spring would be better. And if you stay with me you will have to fix your own food. Because of my dietary restrictions I don't think you would care for my food. And of course we would have to get some seafood while you are here.
@joansmor I'm not sure yet, but with gas prices being what they are- that could be helpful. Let's just plan for Spring no matter what- that takes all the pressure off and I can start saving. Yes to seafood!! and I have no problem bringing some food for myself.
@olivetreeann Sounds good and I would love to have you stay here. And would love to treat you to some good seafood. We have lots of good seafood places including some lobster shacks on the decks where you can see the lobsters being unloaded while you eat. If you plan for spring make it the end of Spring because usually to cold to really enjoy being outside a lot before than.
@joansmor Sounds like a plan Joan- I am "penciling" it in on a calendar I don't have yet- lol! Seriously, I have a note at the end of Dec. 2022- "June 2023" visit Joan!
Yes pretty sure it is a clematis. I have one called Rouge Cardinal in a similar tone and used to have another one close in colour called Niobe. if you do an internet search for either of those names I think you'll find some images. Here is one I posted a couple of years ago of Rouge Cardinal. https://365project.org/gardencat/365/2020-06-30

And thank you for the fav Renee!
