One thing I've discovered this year about mushrooms is that they can pretty much grow anywhere! This lovely example was growing out of a piece of wood Jeff split and left in a pile for me to stack. It wasn't on the top of the pile mind you- it was somewhere in the middle. Of course, I had to photograph it before I pulled it off and stacked that piece!

I did take a shot of this mushroom as I found it, but you couldn't see enough of the detail, so this is the pulled out and seperated from the pile shot- which I liked much better. It's still on the log it grew out of, but not under all the other logs as I found it.
