According to the outdoor thermometer on my deck, the temperature reached 120 degrees today. Now before you panic and cry global warming, let me just say, that temperature reader has never been reliable! It sits in full sun and I suspect it even heats up underneath the plastic cover which throws the thing off even further! Nonetheless, the weather channel did say it was going to be in the upper 90's today and my guess is that we were close to 100. So I decided to play around with one of the garden shots I took today and put it through the "Heat Map" effect in Ribbet (fka Picnik!). It's fun to have the old effects back!
You captured the heatwave perfectly. Our temperature was officially 103 today but when I left school, the temperature registered 106. And it will continue for a few more days. In weather like this I tend to stay indoors as much as midwinter.
yay! that looks like the same bee from mine yesterday. it got processed twice! haha!. i almost did this 'heat' thingie yesterday. i didn't like it in my daisy. i like it on yours though :-) nice!
@melorac Thanks Carole! @woot Thanks Davide! @allie912 Thanks Allison! 106- well maybe my thermometer wasn't that far off after all! I tend to stay indoors during this kind of weather too. It bothers my joints and I don't do well in the heat to begin with! @groovygirlrn Thanks Sheri! @summerfield lol Vikki- that bee travels in fast circles then! I forget what this plant is called. I should write it down- but I think it's probably in the daisy family. @kimmistephens Thanks Kimmi!
It is the opposite here, it is so cold today and I don't think the temperature is going to get much higher than 9 degrees c. Brrrrr. Only one more load of washing to hang outside!
@httpgeffed Thanks Colleen! I can't believe how many parts of the country are under this heat wave- incredible. @nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole- too bad we can't swap some degrees back and forth to warm you up and cool us down! @salza Thanks Sally! I know those temps are bad no matter what, but what makes it difficult here is the humidity on top of the heat. It just saps the life out of you! @jesperani Thanks Jennifer! Every now and then I just have to play with the effects!
Your heat up effect goes well with the current weather situation. In the morning news it said that much of the NE was hit by raging storms last night & power was lost in many areas. Hopefully it didn't affect you, but I'm sure you would welcome some rain. It's now in the high 90s here.
Interesting processing, definitely captures the feeling for the day. 98º here on the 29th with a heat index of 115º. The 28th it was 101º without the heat index.
@vposey Thank you Vickie! Yes, very very hot! @cimes1 Thanks Carole! I guess Pennsylvania is technically a Mid-Atlantic state, not New England but we often have the same weather and are affected by the same storms. Thankfully we did not have any power outages last night. We're also experiencing the same high 90's as you. But it is summer! So stay cool! @rhubbard Thanks Rich. I'm noticing so many people experiencing this heat wave- it's incredible how widespread it is! @mrssmith It's definitely a hot one! Thanks Carla!
@olivetreeann I just noticed this comment. When I said NE, I meant northeast. I really need to remember not to appreciate so much....LOL. Anyway, glad you had no outages in PA---there I go again...;-0
