Lacy Leaf by olivetreeann

Lacy Leaf

A clump of leaves fell out of a squirrel's nest yesterday and when I looked at it closer today, this is what I saw!
Does that mean they nibbled at their own nest or a snail has got loose?

Whoever has been chowing down on these leaves has some teeny tiny teeth! Very cool shot!

Beautiful, looks quite abstract. The B&W dramatises the shot.

Although we have tons of squirrels I've never seen one of their nests. What a fabulous find. Love the varied design of textures in this shot.

Thank you everyone! My apologies for a mass thank you but I'm doing this without my glasses right now and I keep hitting the wrong buttons when I'm thanking you individually! This shot literally fell out of the sky and as for what caused the leaf to look this way, I don't think it was snails or caterpillars because the nest is too far off the ground, but it's probably wear and tear. Squirrels are pretty active and these were brown and brittle since they'd be attached to the nest. No matter what caused it, it was a really interesting shot!

oh wow look at all that texture. Interesting.

@cortens thanks Julie! I was so surprised at the way these leaves looked. I knew it was going to be best in b/w.
@kimmistephens thanks Kimmi!

That's so cool. Of course, I'd be mad if I found that leaf in my garden.

July 24th, 2012
@juliedance Thanks Julie! It was actually a big clump that had fallen out of a squirrel nest during a storm. I just picked it up and put it in the mulch pile (after I took the shot of course!).

Bev
That is very cool! I love the pattern or design of the way the leaves fell. Nice shot!
July 24th, 2012
@prttblues Thanks Bev! It was a rather large cluster all bunched together- probably a result of being stuffed into the nest.

Thank you Andy!
The b/w format was the best one to bring out that lacy texture.

Stunning image. You have lace makers in your garden. So pretty and picture perfect processing
July 25th, 2012
@dmariewms Thanks Marie!
@nancyperry Thanks Nancy! This cluster fell out of a squirrel's nest. I think that the leaves became brittle and the movement of the squirrels caused the lace effect- but the wind was responsible for blowing it out of the tree. It was a big storm!

I like this, very nice b&w :-)
