Had to run up to the mailbox today, so I decided that even though it was rainy and dreary and COLD, I'd still stop on my way home and take a few shots of this ice formation. I did give the color a little boost on this because otherwise you would not be able to see the ice as well.
That looks beautiful. I must say Ann, my Brother has gotten into photgraphy too, and he mentioned that he would like to go up to Bushkill Falls this Fall. I said, hey, I know someone up in that area that could show us around. May have to look you up when the time comes.
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie- yes, it's the Bushkill River and if you look at the eastern side of Pennsylvania near Milford, Dingman's Ferry or East Stroudsburg, you should be able to see it on a map. It has been one of the top fly fishing streams on the east coast for a long time and every Spring you'll see fishermen there all the time! As for the mail, it's not close, but it's not far either. It takes about minutes by car. Down one hill, up another and then around a bend!
@smithak thank you Smitha! @salza thanks Sally! In "real life" there is also the lovely sound of the Bushkill flowing by! @pflaume thanks Lisa! There are but I'm finding it hard to get myself out of the warm house this year and into the cold to find them! @prttblues thanks Bev! I think it was a bit of winter insanity as the day before it was sunny (still cold but sunny) and I just couldn't motivate myself to take a run down there! @maggiemae lol It may sound like that but this area is a real mixture of suburban, urban and rural- each setting within a few minutes of the other at all times! For example- just beyond the camera range in this shot are several houses, a playground, tennis courts and a metal bridge for cars to go over the Bushkill. @filsie65 thanks Phil! I just wanted to bring out the leaves a bit more. Everything looked so drab in the rain. @sangwann thanks Dione! @dakotaburns thanks Donald! Had to have a cup of tea when I got in just to warm myself up!
@olivetreeann I will be in touch when it gets closer to that time. Towards the end of September the entire family is going to Outer Banks. When is prime Fall color time up there?
@cimes1 Thank you Carole! And thanks for the fav too!! @mrssmith Thank you Carla! Yes, it's probably hard to find things like this on the plains of Indiana! @digitalrn Sounds good Rick! Peak foliage is usually between the 1st to 3rd week in October depending on how cold it gets and how quickly. There is actually a foliage watch on the Pocono tourism website and I think that starts in September. So, we'll keep our eyes on it come September. I'm so excited! @gerry Thank you Gerry! And thanks for the fav!!
@daisy Thank you Kathryn! I've always noticed the ice on Route 209 but hadn't realized we had our own formation right here in the community. I just happened to catch a quick glimpse of it the other day and put it on my "get that shot before winter is over" list!
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri!
