Merry Marigold by olivetreeann

Merry Marigold

I can't seem to get the hang of my Nikon and the way it focuses. I really wanted to get a tight shot of this marigold, but no matter what distance I put it from the camera, it came out blurred. Once again, processing to the rescue.
Wow, love the processing. So colorful.

@caroleb Thank you Carole! Necessity is the mother of colorful processing as well as Invention!

I know there is a way to focus on several spots to compose a perfectly good focused photo, but I cannot figure my camera out either

It's very pop artish! I like it but also know it can be frustrating not to capture what you are trying to get. Good luck getting the feel

Did you buy a new camera Ann?

@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole- no, the Nikon was given to me at the end of my first year and I had every intention of making it the primary camera that year. But, I was just not very happy with the way it focuses on macro shots, and was having a difficult time capturing pictures I liked in manual mode. I find the response time between when I push the shutter and when the picture is snapped to be really slow, even though I have it set for the shortest time possible. I do like it for landscape shots though. And the flash is ok too. I stopped using it, but pull it out when the camera card is full on the Canon and I'm waiting for another to come in, or in the case of this week, when my laptop wouldn't read the Canon's camera card, I ended up using the Nikon because I have a cord with a USB port to attach to the laptop. But thankfully my computer read the Canon card tonight so I'll be able to use my Canon again. I think the security program needed to be updated. Strange but true!

Nice shot, Ann... Love the processing. Sorry your camera is giving you problems. I can't seem to figure out my settings to take shots of moving water to make it look stopped without the shot overexposing or underexposing. But you did a great job making this pretty.

@prttblues Thanks Bev! That's the Nikon (and one of the reasons I hadn't been using it more) but the computer is reading the Canon card again so all is well. As for moving water, I was able to do that with mine, so I'm pretty sure you can do it with yours. Let's see... I think I slowed the shutter speed to 80 or 100 ISO and then had the camera on manual with no flash. I'm sure there's info in the manual that will tell you how to do that. If not, I've been told there's pretty much a "how to" video on everything in the world on YouTube.
