Saw this pretty "lady" fluttering around the deck today and she was quite happy with the nectar in this pansy so that she stayed still while I took a number of shots. This was my favorite because you can see her proboscis stuck into the pansy!
This was also my first attempt at shooting under-exposed as recommended by another photographer in my photo club. But in my opinion it "blued" the purple of the pansy. What do you think?
@anazad511 Thank you Ana and thank you so much for the fav!! @maggiemae Thank you Maggie! It's only a matter of slightly adjusting a setting in the camera. But I'm not convinced it helped this picture because it altered the color of the plant so much. @allie912 Thank you Allison and thank you so much for the fav!!
great capture, ann! the colours are wonderful, i'm so thankful you didn't process it to black and white. :-) although i am getting to like black and white now. but not for this, thank you!
Thanks to all! I'm off to camera club. The winners of the Scavenger hunt are being announced tonight and I can't wait to find out if I won something! I'll be back to look at your pictures later.
What a great capture, Ann. I have never gotten a butterfly like this. Just a teeny yellow one and that isn't very impressive. Especially compared to all the other butterfly shots - and this one is the best. Fav. I think that the pansy does look blue. But it's a pretty blue. And the butterfly is pretty too. I wish we had butterflies.
@daisymiller Thank you Daisy! @prttblues Thank you Bev! And thank you so much for the fav! I wouldn't have butterflies if I didn't have the flowers. I'm sure there are a lot of butterflies in Vermont! Probably more than here. Keep you eyes on the wildflowers- especially ones like this where they can stick there "tongue" (or should I say straw?) in and get the nectar. I would think that you might see some along the roads on your mountain where there are wild flowers growing. @susale Thank you Suse! @sarasdadandmom Thank you Terry!
