Quilts and Blankets

I was in search of something for the Black and White challenge still life, but wasn't crazy about anything I took today. I'll try again tomorrow. In the meantime- you get a textural close-up instead.
Its certainly lots of textures - the crochet and the softness of quilt!

I have never been a fan of black in white in most pictures, I just like color. However, the simplicity of this shot is great.

I like the way you composed this - and your capture of the textures is wonderful. Made quite an interesting b&w still life.

Are these hand made Ann or do they have some history to them?

Beautiful

Perfect in black-and-white because it does accent the texture so nicely and the patterns.

You certainly got the texture and the line of the edge makes the composition.

@nicolecampbell Yes, they are all hand-made and is the case with most of the stuff in my house they all have a story! The top piece is a "mini" quilt of sorts made by a friend when she was my "secret sister" at church. She was a very gifted quilter so it's quite a treasure. The crocheted blanket was my grandmother's. I don't remember how I ended up with it but for a while it was my extra blanket until I noticed how fragile it was getting and realized I didn't know how to repair it. So it went on display then. The floral quilt under that was a gift a friend brought back to me from China (of all places). At the time I'd casually mentioned I'd love a quilt to match the décor of my bedroom. They were so inexpensive in China she picked one up for me when she traveled there. And the one on the very bottom (squares) belonged to my other grandmother. It was discovered bundled up and shoved in a closet in her house when we cleaned it out after she'd passed away. The colors are definitely NOT me- pink and lime green- and actually they weren't her style either so that's probably why it was stuffed in a closet! It's huge and I've always thought if I could get past the pink, I might actually put it on my bed- but pink! No, not going on the bed!
