People Fair 2017

I had so much fun today! I was asked by a friend who teaches gifted students to come and speak at the Sixth Annual People Fair about photography. There were about 40 students who participated in this program. They were put into groups of 2 to 4 at a time and rotated around the different people to learn more about what they do and why they like doing it. I had my laptop showing some of my photos, a book that shows how photography can make us "Take Another Look" at the world around us and an odd assortment of cameras. It was fun to see how different groups were interested in different things. My talk was entitled 5 Things You Should Know About Photography and I gave the students time to ask me questions as well. Some groups were very interested in the pictures. Others the cameras- and it was fun to see them trying to figure out how the two oldest cameras and the Polaroid worked. The two students above (sorry about the blocked out faces- I could not ask for permission to post them on line, hence the "disguises") were fascinated with the T3i and really wanted to have their pictures taken, so I accommodated! What a pair of characters!
I know your presentation was terrific! You could do a Theme challenge on 365 for the 5 Things we Should Know About Photography, that would be awesome!

How old were the students that you spoke to? It looks like they might be younger than I thought originally they would be. A terrific way to hide their faces. So glad you could create some interest

@louannwarren @wendyfrost @henrir @grammyn @milaniet @helenhall

Thank you Lou Ann, Wendy, Henri, Katy, Milanie, and Helen! I had a lot of fun as you all guessed.

@grammyn Their ages ranged from 7/8 to early teens. They were also accompanied by some high school students who seemed to be acting as "chaperones" of sorts. Great group!
