We attended the funeral of a close friend on October 16th. He had served in the Navy and was laid to rest in a Veterans Cemetery. This beautiful memorial was near the entrance and was dedicated to the men and women of all the branches of our military. It really moved me.
The placard and a sign above the entrance read, "All gave some; some gave all".
Thank you all very much for your condolences and thoughtful words. Bruce had been battling cancer for a few years and although we were sorry about his passing we were also relieved to know he would no longer be suffering.
I know that the US is not the only country to have military heroes such as our soldiers. 365 is special in that way that we can look around the world and see similar feelings and memorials to soldiers of all lands. We share a unique bond here.
a very moving memorial. Sorry for your loss too Ann. We have just visited the British War Museum whilst staying in London. Amazing collection and display of everything you could imagine but a strong reminder of the sacrifices made by men and women over the ages and still being made today
Sorry that you have lost a friend.
