@taffy@newbank@888rachel@golftragic For your comments if you have time. Is the background too distracting? Why did I not notice it before I uploaded it? I was concentrating on the strawberries and the cream!! If I get time I will take the shot again.
I went 'wow' when I opened it for catching that perfect white drip. Then, I did notice the background but it could be fixable if you feel like it. You could crop it to a square and then clone out the thing that is hanging above -- and your hand it you are up for it. Alternatively, you could bring in blur (picmonkey has an easy way to do it) to blur out the background. It's a very cool capture and you present us with a good lesson re background.
@taffy Thanks Taffy. I have tried to clone it out in PS but it looked worse - I made a mess of it!! I will try what you have suggested. I haven't tried picmonkey for blur so that will be something new to try.
@taffy I have taken this into picmonkey and cropped out most of the hand. I then discovered textures and had a play. This is Papyrus - I think. Not sure if I have improved the shot or ruined it but I did enjoy playing with picmonkey!! I tried blur but I didn't like the final result - probably not doing it right!!
Apologies to everyone who has already put comments as I have now changed the shot.
So, I think you changed this shot between the first time I saw it and when I got around to commenting! I seem to remember it being starker, and that it really popped out, and those luscious, bright strawberries looked good enough to eat! I do like the texture, but I think it has softened everything a bit and reduced the impact. Would you mind putting the original in another album so that we can determine if the edits were effective, or what needs to be done. Just a thought....
Cloning isn't always easy. Picking the right spot is crucial. Another trick in photoshop is to copy your background layer blur it add a mask (white to reveal) and with a black soft brush paint back in the strawberries, etc. but not the background. Takes patience. I have used this on several photos and received comments on my dof. Meanwhile this is fab.
Apologies to everyone who has already put comments as I have now changed the shot.
