I was watching the gannet sitting on the nest when he/she suddenly stood up and we could see the baby - ugly little thing!! LOL!! It was very crowded on the cliffs with thousands of birds sharing each little ledge. The razobills had babies in their nests.
I suppose they choose the cliff for its height - good to chuck the babies out when they need to learn to fly! I don't know where you were when you took this shot!
@maggiemae The cliff goes in and out along the coast and I am standing on one of the RSPB platforms overlooking the next part of the cliff face. They have done a great job with the viewing platforms as you can get great views of the birds crowded on the cliffs. The smell is very strong too with all that bird poo!! There were some small boats out down below us and I think they must have had great views of the birds flying off the cliffs and diving into the water for fish.
