We went to the country park this afternoon as the sun was shining and I thought I could get a landscape shot for my mentoring group looking for great contrast to make a good B&W. The sun was blinding as I drove but as I got out of the car the sun disappeared behind heavy cloud. As we walked in the freezing wind the sun suddenly poked through the cloud just for a few moments. This was 3 bracketed shots processed in Photoshop HDR and then in Nik Efex Pro with final tweaks in LR.
Also for day 3 of Flash of Red February.
Many thanks for your lovely comments on yesterday's shot - much appreciated especially as it appeared on the PP.
@taffy@888rachel@newbank@golftragic@jgpittenger My B&W landscape for this weeks theme. I tried to make it a bit lighter but the sky blows out completely - very extreme contrast in the sky. If you have time I will be interested in your comments.
Wow Pam...You really hit it in terms of timing as those rays make the shot for me. I love the way lighting is key to this shot. I wouldn't make it lighter -- I like it as is.
If it were me Pam, I'd leave the sky as is. It's quite dramatic and a small area of blowout is fine. The rays are spot-on and most attractive. Fantastic sky.
