2016 05 25 Take me to the wedding!!

This is my great friend Hugh who is the owner of the farm where i have been going for holidays for at least 15 years. His son Neville has now converted a huge barn into a wedding venue which is fabulous. There was a wedding last Saturday and the groom was in the army. All his army friends were in uniform and performed an arch on honour as the couple came out of the church.

This was the cart driven by Hugh which took the young men and then the bridesmaids to the church. It is pulled by an old Ferguson tractor which has been rebuilt by Hugh. He did tell me all the details as he thought I was interested in tractors!! LOL!!

The wedding party arrived on Friday and all the remaining cottages were taken over by them. The wedding took place Saturday and as it was a Bank Holiday weekend the whole party stayed until Monday!! In fact the party started Friday and never stopped!! I wonder how much that must have cost? Probably more than the deposit for a house!! I think the couple had been living together for years and had children. I have to ask Why?

Still filling in gaps in my project so don't worry about comments.
What a fantastic way to arrive at the wedding.

Great shot and a very novel way to travel to the church. Sounds like your friend has a good business going with the wedding barn and cottages.

Blokes and their tractors.... I have one of them.. this one looks very well looked after.. Sounds like your farmers are having to diversify as well ,.. good for them.

What a neat setting for a wedding. This should certainly be a successful business. The colors here are beautiful and a nice picture of Hugh and his marvelous tractor.

That does seem a very big expense for one weekend, doesn't it! I love the rustic way to arrive at the chapel. Was it noisy for you to be surrounded by revellers?

What a great cheerful shot, he looks like he'd be a lot of fun. The pop of red is perfect.

@888rachel we did hear them come back to their cottages each evening all sounding very happy! It didn't go on for too long though thankfully. I am pleased that the wedding business has taken off so well but it has changed the nature of the farm. I will still go there for holidays as Finlay loves to be able to run free and it really is a beautiful area. It's a great place to stay and then travel around the Dales or for different scenery the North Yorkshire Moors taking you over to the coast and Whitby and Scarborough. My favourite county.

Well I think they have hit on a winner there Pam! I bet Hugh loves his new job too! It sounds a lovely wedding & great venue but agree that weddings go over the top sometimes! Money better spent perhaps! We are going to a wedding on Saturday & I know the young couple had done loads of stuff themselves. It's all ok if the marriage lasts but if they divorce they must think to themselves they wished they'd saved the money!
