Rock houses

These houses were built into the soft sandstone at Kinver Edge and the first written record of families living here was in 1777.
They still had families living in them up until 1960 and after the last family left they became derelict until 1980 when the National Trust acquired them and restored them back to how they were.
We were surprised at how cosy they were inside.
How lovely! I'll bet they stay cool in summer and warm in winter too.

What a great find, and such interesting background info. Remarkable that people lived here as recently as 1960. Fav!
