Another image I took yesterday of Kevin my stranger No35, went back later to get this portrait he was only to pleased to turn around and I got a quick shot fired off, https://365project.org/pcoulson/365-3/2017-02-10
Wow, great detail. he looks a bit startled/surprised, it is a very natural looking expression. good pose, which you engineered by forcing him to turn in that way, excellently done.. love the skin tones and your signature tight crop.
@onewing Thank you Babs, I did notice as I made my contribution into his open guitar case that there was very little money it it, must say there were very few people around:)
@stray_shooter Funnily Ron I did offer to send him copies after I'd showed him the live-view screen, he said no thanks he was not one for photographs:)
@jorlam Thank you for your comments, I realised as I was walking around the Cathedral after taking his photograph earlier I hadn't got a portrait for my strangers theme so returned, I was standing slightly behind and to his left waited for him to complete his piece of music then asked if it was OK to take his photograph again, already with my camera to my eye I snapped the shot as he turned around to say yes hence his expression, fortune favours the brave (and quick), lol:)
I like your idea of a Friday person portrait. Not sure I would have the courage, but I guess if you make the effort to do it once or twice it becomes easier?
@suesouthwood Thanks for finding the time to comment Sue, I was challenged to take a portrait of a stranger and was not looking forward to asking a perfect stranger if I could their portrait, but once you start it gets easier to ask, my tip approach with a smile complement the subject colourful cloths, hair, outfit etc. explain about the 365 project and I only ask their first name, its quite surprising what information they volunteer, if they say no just walk away, best of luck just have a go tag me in on your first stranger please:)
@pcoulson Thanks Peter. I will try I promise, but don't feel very confident about portrait photography anyway. Maybe I will start with a friend. Incidentally I am from Bradford originally and although I have lived in Kent for longer I still feel my roots are up there. Now following you so I can remember to tag you in my portrait shot!
