Venice is a village, is what the locals will tell you. My hope is that we can still save this wonderful village, the Venice of Venetians, from the greed of those who know that the easy money lies in making the city into a theme park.

Great shot, Peter. This is one of my favorite cities and I totally agree. I had a tourist off a cruise ship ask me there. "What time does the city close?" She genuinely thought it was some kind of theme park. Thank goodness there are some people really committed to keeping it alive and preserved. And thank you for posting this and for your comments about Venice.
