The breathtaking colors are attributed to the various species of thermophilic bacteria living in the Yellowstone springs. The blue water in the center is very hot, but it may support chemotrophic life – and as you move farther from the heat source of the spring, life begins to flourish. The cyanobacteria – aquatic photosynthesizing bacteria - that live at the edges of Grand Prismatic Spring cover the color spectrum including yellow, green, orange, red, and browns. In the near future I hope to show off a series of photo's entitled "The Art of Algae". Hope you enjoy them as much I did taking them :)

Such an intriguing image with its kaleidoscope of colors and the sky's reflection added in. Very much looking forward to your series of algae pictures.
The colours and the patterns are beautiful. Fav.
