Wind Energy Giants by pdulis

Wind Energy Giants

The story of the human race is a fight to manage the elements of nature and make them serve us. Yet there is a good and bad side to these giant colossal machines. They are certainly able to befriend the wind to supply us with clean energy, yet they have a visual impact on our landscapes and may reduce our local bird population. I guess that's what progress is all about.
Really like the minimalistic look of the picture. Perfectly done that all the wind mils are perfectly visible even though they are whit and in front of the white sky.
And as a little bonus: The company I work for is operate a lot of wind farms around the world.

The line of snowy trees gives a good foundation for the shot... nice!

Beautiful capture

Man made v nature. Great contrast.

Gives a good size perspective for the colossal turbines.

This shot really does show how wind turbines can dominate the landscape. I understand the need for new energy sources, but I'm not a fan of wind turbines.

They are popping up around here on the ride into Cleveland. Alot of times they are not being used. Mixed feelings on the things.

Wonderful shot! Are they noisy? I've read lots of migrating birds are found dead below them. Shame. There has to be a better way, but follow the money - that always tells all.

I like the low pov of the turbines. We have them here too, stuck in the sand dunes along the highway.

Very cool.

Great b&w shot. I used to be delighted with them, but these current wind farms do not leave place to live for birds.

Great black and white shot

@marlboromaam - thanks- some people say they make a wooshing sounds- I haven’t heard it - in Ottawa they stopped a $200M project because bats were in danger- you’d think they would figure this out first 😔

Excellent and original b&w

i think they are things of beauty and beautiful engineering too

You make them look very elegant. Very nice minimalist shot.

I like this so much. The natural and the man made working beautifully together in this shot.

Like your use of descending size with distance

Maybe progress is learning to compromise those good and bad features to the benefit of us and the environment.

Cool capture. They are going with the photocells down here. Acres and acres of those black framed cells. But guess there's no way to harm the birds, other than taking away their forest area.

A thought-provoking capture. The image works so well in B&W, with the thin line of trees below emphasising their magnitude.

Great shot

Nice – good thought provoking observations

Mmmmm. Like someone else said. I have mixed feelings about them. But Great shot nevertheless.

Beautiful shot. Great use of negative space.

Great capture

This has to be seen in the larger format - nice definition in the trees, and great show of just how big these "beasts" are!
