Snow has blanketed the fields across Ontario, yet the job of a farmer never ends. It’s true the busiest season is summer with days often stretching to 18 or 20 hours. But even though winter has shorter working hours, the preparation for spring never stops. The very existence of each farm tells a story of toil and struggle and community.

agreed the photo is really stunning on black. it is not an easy life for sure and one that I am truly grateful for. where would we be without these hard working farmers? it is a great capture.
Really nice document and interesting caption. The image feels cinematic to me - like the opening shot of a film. I feel like I can almost hear a gentle wind blowing and a lone crow calling from far away!
Absolutely love this image & your words. As retired dairy farmers milking 120 jersey cows I can completely relate to all you say. Strangely our winters in the UK when all the cows were housed was our busier time. Miking twice a day 365 days a year was always hard work but it’s a way if life we loved. Sadly the smaller farms are finding it hard to make a living & large much more commercial units are the way to go sadly.
I think the weather is not as extreme in the UK which helps but snow made the work much harder. Big big fave!
