Wow, fabulous. Brought back memories of our RAF days. The Red Arrows used to come to RAF Valley occasionally to use the aircraft there if any of their own aircraft were U/S and they came to Cyprus in February each year too to practice their routines for the summer season. I believe they are stationed at Scampton these days. Scampton was our first posting after we got married back when Noah was a lad. a huge fav

@onewing Babs, thank you, and I am so pleased this brought back happy memories. Isn't it strange how service years stay with us?

good good phot!

By the way Peadar, inwhich city were the two Vigili? My husband and I are betting on different options

@caterina Caterine, you threw me with the term "vigili", which I had not come across before. I had thought they were local police (polizia municipale)? In any case, they were in Florence. Who won the bet?

I did! Vigili is the common name for polizia municipale. you don't say: "Where is the polizia municipale?" you say" but where are the Vigili?" It comes from the verb vigilare, same origin as vigilant

@caterina I'm glad you won the bet!!! Thanks for the steer on "vigili", I'm hoping it won't come in handy!
