Waiting for a boat to come up...

Extras: another shot from a recent trip along the Oxford Canal.

Here we are moored temporarily against the side of the canal, as we wait for the boat already in the lock to "come up" (that is, she was at the lower level, and her crew are now filling the lock to raise the boat to this level). We have sent crew members along to offer help (on the RH side); shortly they will swing open the top gate to let the boat out to the canal.
Brings back great memories for me Fav

Lovely scene. My great great grandfather was a lock keeper.

That's really pretty, we have a lock ten minutes away from us, sadly its no longer used.

The joy of the canals is seeing the countryside you wouldn't normally see. This is lovely Peter - and you had blue sky too!
