Followers will know I like a good Contre-Jour shot (French for 'against the day' which means shooting into the light)
This is me trying to be all arty and fancy doing a monochrome image of my wife watching the world 'go by' (actually it was a tractor 'going by' ...a tractor cleaned the beach every morning with a special gadget on the back which appeared to filter the sand)
There's a little boy and his mum and the boy is showing a bit of interest in our Ikea beach bags (pink plant bags actually) and eagle eyed among you will spot the beach umbrella from a previous shot.
I've kept the wife in silhouette as she does not like having her photo shot. I had to convince her this was an arty shot and she would be in silhouette .
The little panny TZ7 has done a great job here , I tweaked the contrast slightly in Photoshop Elements and that's about all the post processing I did !
I like how the sea id shimmering and the path is shining and the little boy and his mum who walked into the frame is an added bonus :)
Fabulous shot, looks like one of the old ones they used to print in Illustrated News or some such journal........do you use a filter, all I get is fuzzy stuff!!! really love this, very clever!
Love it Phil & your shadow from your wife shows how 'contre- jour' your picture is. You can see smoke trails in the sky & tractor lines on the beach, looks like you are out early to catch the best spot on the sand!
Your narrative always adds so much to your already wonderful pictures. Reading how a photographer creates a composition is so helpful to all of us on 365. I love the converging lines and the clouds and horizon running parallel with them. Great B&W image.
@fannyb Fanny , no filters, I just ensured some of the direct light was blocked by the subject (my wife) ... :) .....as long as you are not pointing the camera directly at the light (which is dangerous to your eyes) then the camera should cope OK
@happypat thanks Pat, no point lazing in bed on holiday (especially when it's just a week), we were normally on the beach shortly after 9 am , then I'd go off and explore some shots :)
@allie912 allison thnx for your words, i'm as a librarian you appreciate the importance of words. I do like to write an 'essay' on my pics, mainly because it means I can explain why I took the image and what I was trying to acive ...oh and it also helps people from other parts of the world understand the places we are shooting
