I made a late decision yesterday to go to the football, so after an early tea I drove the 240+ mile round trip to the Reebok to watch Bolton Wanderers play local rivals Blackburn Rovers,
This is one of the floodlights at the Reebok. You've seen the lights before on my 365, but never lit up !
There is something special about evening kick off's at football. The sound seems to travel differently.........as the dew descends the pitch smells of grass ........ the floodlights produce spectacular colours on the pitch.
The game ended 1-0 to the Wanderers. We scored with the last kick of the match, to send the vast majority of the 19K crowd home happy.
To quote a football cliché ....four wins on the run / on the spin / on the bounce ....keep us on the fringes of the play offs.
Your year this time Phil, I noticed you were well up the table...you have to suffer the downs to appreciate the ups!!!
Something about a floodlight that is exciting I think, something special on & this photo picks that up very well plus the struts & spars make great lines.
@happypat thanks pat , big game tomorrow, brighton at home, more footie pics to come !
@judithg judih we do like beating blackburn.....jackburn as they are affectionately known as (after jack walker) ...although they are owned by some indian (indian) fast food chicken entrepreneurs at the moment who thought they were buying a foorball franchise as opposed to a club !!! You reap what your sow
really like this Phil - agree I like evening matches best too - seems to be much better atmosphere and I love the smell of grass and Raljex!! that's a massive drive so I'm glad you won right at the end!
That is one long drive for a football (what I think of as soccer) Glad you had a good time!
