A bit of Scotland in Spain

I've not posted for over a week on 365 because I've been on my holidays in Spain

We've been to Mallorca for a week (the same hotel as last year), staying in the little village of Cala Mesquida on the North East coast of the island.

There's not a lot in Cala Mesquida. Three hotels, a little supermarket, a butchers, a bakers, a pharmacy, a sports shop (surfing etc.), a bus stop, a couple of restuarants, one bar and a taxi rank. There's a little residential area with some lovely villas.

There's a lot to see though. A beautiful beach backed with preserved sand dunes and pine forests and massive cliffs either side of the beach. Some nice walks and beautiful scenery

This is a shot of a thistle, growing on the cliffs high above Cala Mesquida. A bit of Scotland in Spain perhaps !

I have a sterling silver pin of a thistle brought to me from Scotland by a friend. I certainly don't think of this prickly plant growing in Spain!

@judithg thanks judith, i did think of mentioning a candlestick maker ....but I thought it might go 'over the heads' of my North American friends and Australian friends........ they might think I was talking Rubbish !!!
