Walking the boards

The dunes at Cala Mesquida are protected.

You are not meant to walk on them. Mallorca is very green and environmentally friendly and they protect their coastline and eco systems with pride.

The local government has built some board walks through the dunes, to allow a short cut access to the far end of the beach and access to the cliffs on the east side of the bay.

It's a popular walk and makes for a nice monochrome shot.

Making them zigzag might disencourage bikers! Great idea - should be copied all round the world!

Fabulous shot - isn't it the King of Spain who has 'saved' Mallorca from the wrong sort of tourist & prevented its overdevelopment? Adam is going to stay in a friend's villa in July - quite far inland - looks like a quiet place and fortunately away from sources of alcohol so I don't have to read the riot act about drinking and swimming pools (not that he drinks very much at all but in the sun, post exams and all that...).

@judithg thanks judith...i'm sure adam will be fine ...a villa with parents around :) ...just make sure he has lots of high factor sun cream...it will be very hot in July !!!

@maggiemae good spot maggie...i did see some bikers attempting to ride the boards...but there are some steps on here too which makes it difficult for them :)

@phil_howcroft Ahh well that's the thing - they are going to a nearby hotel - but the villa is worth a fortune so I don't suppose they will be left completely untended.
