Mollie Does Adele 25 by phil_howcroft

Mollie Does Adele 25

It was camera club model night at Arnold and District Camera Club yesterday.

I've been wanting to do a portrait in the striking style of the Adele 25 cover art, so yesterday was the perfect opportunity.

This is my interpretation of the genre.

Shot under LED lights and edited in Rawtherapee with a Polaroid 665 film emulation and the "Adele 25 crop"

Adele's cover art can bee seen here:

Hope you like and thank you to Hollie for posing.

We can be our own worst critics for our photos and I cannot help but notice a little stray shadow from Hollie's hair drifting into her eye on the left hand side of the frame.
Her make-up is beautiful and she makes a wonderful model. I think you've done her justice Phil. Don't stress over the small things! I like your idea to go for an Adele-like cover photo.

I had to google it to see what Adele 25 looked like, lol! This is a great interpretation.

Such a professional portrait Phil. You worry too much...I'm having to look really hard at your 'shadow'! Her lips are made up perfectly!

Great job! Great idea. I might try something like this.

Lovely shot! I notice she has one eyebrow raised at you!

I see absolutely no harm in sweating the small stuff - I think it's a good thing provided we don't get so tied up with it that we inhibit ourselves.
Having said that, if I've indentified your shadow correctly I'd already taken it on board as being one of the tiny blood vessels in her eye.
Makes a great b&w and the close up and personal take is really quite disconcerting. That is not an adverse comment, btw, far from it.

@nicoleterheide thank you nicole

@dulciknit thanks for the detailed analysis and compliments Alison. I think I sweat about the small stuff because I start my role as a photography judge next week !!!

@ahleena look forward to your take on this genre poppy :)

@judithg ahh judith , good spot regarding the raised eyebrow and I was too involved with the shadow on Mollie's left eye I didn't notice the raised eyebrow :)

@Cherrill thanks cherrill, these are easy to do under LED studio lights, you just dial in an ISO setting, set your camera to a setting you think will work and then just compose the shot how you wish :) .

@nickspicsnz glad you like the interpretation nick :)

@quietpurplehaze thanks haze, i've been wanting to do a portrait in this style for a while :)

@eyesmile thanks gena, pleased you think it is "professional" :)

@pandorasecho thanks dixie :)

@frankhymus thanks for the comment and fave frank
