Snow Queen at the Arboretum by phil_howcroft

Snow Queen at the Arboretum

We went to Christmas at the Arboretum on Sunday afternoon.

The city council lit up the trees in the park with lights, there were street entertainers, a band, carol singing and a male voice choir.

This is on of two 9 feet tall snow Queens who were entertaining the children and providing a cool photo opportunity for me.

The purple sky is the last remnants of the sunset and some of the lighting in the park.
It makes for a nice backdrop :)

Shot with my 50mm lens on my 60D and edited in Darktable
This is brilliant. So well captured.

What a Snow Queen !! I love the way you have captured the shimmer in her wings - the blue tones in the background really does enhance the image so well !

Very fairytale-like and I like the colours and shimmer - but - how did she get to be 9 feet tall?!

Great clarity....so if she is 9 feet tall, how the heck did you get up to take this full on portrait!

Beautiful colours and composition and a great topical subject - mind you I can't remember.a white Christmas for some time now, perhaps the snow queens will give us a dusting after Christmas - hounds will go crazy, they love it!
