Meet Lesley, my second stranger from Nottingham's St. Patrick Day Celebrations.
It was a cold and snowy day on Saturday and the organisers of the event along with the City Council decide to cancel the celebrations taking part in the Old Market Square.
The parade was still going ahead though.
The start of the parade was outside the Thurland Hall public house and this is where I met Lesley.
Lesley was with her extended family who had traveled from County Wicklow in Ireland , to be at the event.
When I asked Lesley for a photo she suggested I photograph the Visitors from Wicklow first, so I ended up attempting to photograph a group of about 20 people using my Sony Alpha A6000 and my 50mm prime lens.
After the group photoshoot, I asked Lesley to move away from the crowd so I could photograph her.
It was snowing as I attempted my photoshoot , but I managed to find a bit of shelter from the wind and snow by moving towards a shop window.
I asked Lesley if she was still working and she told me that she was trying her best to be retired.
Lesley was born in Nottingham but her family history is all associated with Wicklow, and many of her cousins and family live there ..."it;s like my second home, I am always there " said Lesley
We then had a discussion about the cancellation of the main event, Lesley thought the decision was correct as even more adverse weather was expected later in the afternoon
I gave Lesley my card and told her to contact me if she wanted some of the photos I took.
The image was edited in Darktable and then sent to GIMP to utilise the fabulous G'MIC black and white filter.
Thank you for being stranger 124 Lesley. I don't doubt you had a wonderful celebration despite the snow.
