I met Clive riding his Elephant , Harminder, across Nottingham's market square.
"Riding an elephant ? ", I hear your ask !!
Well he was actually driving his elephant !
Harminder is a life-size pedal-powered mechanical Indian elephant made of metal, reclaimed bicycle parts and other recycled materials
Clive and Harminder, together with a specially commissioned giant City Fox were visiting Nottingham as part of the Nottingham Puppet Festival.
I asked Clive how long it took to create Harminder and Clive told me initially about 4 weeks, but looking after Harminder was a labour of love and he was always enhancing her features.
Clive is part of Festive Road, who are a Community Interest Company (not for profit organisation) , who's vision is to creative activities for community groups, family learning and in educational settings.
Clive was up for being part of the 100 strangers project and I took several photos of him, It was a bright and sunny morning in the square so it was difficult to find a position that wasn't in direct sunlight. I ended up using part of Harminder's impressive frame as a backdrop and to provide some dappled shade. The orange bendy curve to the left hand side of the frame (behind Clive) is the trunk of Harmider and I think it helps tell the story
I will post a picture of Harminder, after I have posted this and I am sure when you see it you will like her.
I saw Clive and Harminder later in the afternoon as the took part in the finale parade, Clive seemed a little concerned with the pressure on one of Harminders wheels.
Thank you for being stranger 125 Clive (and Harminder)
