It was Arnold Carnival today. Our local borough council host an annual summer event in the civic park . Fun for all the family.
I decided to take my Industar И-61 53mm f2.8 vintage lens with me to the event .
Meet Ann and her two pedigree Chihuahuas , Gracie and Eddie , who are siblings , born after each other in the litter .
Ann was sat on a bench with her two friends , Liz and Dawn, having a drink.
I'd seen the Chihuahuas a bit earlier with Ann and her friends as we walked around the park and thought they might make a good stranger shot.
Later on in the afternoon I saw the three ladies sat on the bench and decided to ask them for a photo. I did a group shot of them all together. Gracie was with Ann and Eddie was with Dawn. I didin't realise at first that both Gracie and Eddie were Ann's dogs , I assumed Ann had one and Dawn had one.
When I asked Ann , if she would like a photo with both her dogs , she was really pleased to let me photograph them , On quite a few of the shots Ann is looking down at the girls (they are both girls) in an adoring manner and I could not see Ann's eyes , so I asked her to look up and make contact with the camera.
I asked Ann and her friends if they were from Arnold, as I had never seen them before around town. Ann and Dawn were from Arnold, but Lizzie had come across from the other side of Nottingham, Lizzie and Ann had been friends for over 40 years.
After the shoot , I shook hands with all three ladies and stroked Gracie and Eddie. I gave Ann a contact card and told her to email me for the pictures.
Ann said it had been really nice to meet me. I told the ladies it had been a pleasure to take their photos.
I was a little worried shooting strangers with my vintage lens as manual focusing can be a quite time consuming compared to auto focus , but the ladies were all relaxed and patient as I fiddled with the focus ring. The Industar И-61 created a lovely photo of Ann and her lovely dogs.
