On Sunday we went to Nottingham Mela at the Nottingham Arboretum park. The Mela is always an excellent event to photograph.
At the event I saw Selina, who was wearing a beautiful outfit and was being interviewed by a Radio Nottingham reporter. I loitered around for a few minutes until the interview had finished and then approached Selina and introduced myself.
Selina told me she was wearing a traditional Pakistani outfit. I asked her if she was a dancer and she said yes she was. Selina is the creative director of 4all2Envy entertainments and her dance troupe had travelled up from West London to perform at Nottingham Mela. We had just missed Selina performing in the Bandstand Area but she said they would be performing later in the Dance Tent.
For my strangers project I tend to do headshot portraits but I have also included (see my next picture) a full length photo of Selina in her outfit.
Selina asked me if I would like to shoot her and the rest of her dancers (2 males) and asked them to come into shot. They struck up some great poses and as I was clicking away, I was aware that I had been joined by several other photographers who had seen them posing for me.
I offered to send Selina the pictures and she gave me her contact card
Thank you for being stranger number 179 Selina and being patient as I asked you to move position for better lighting.
