Cloughie

Brian Clough OBE, perhaps the greatest ever English Club Football managers.

He managed Nottingham Forest to two European Cup victories and one Division 1 title (equivalent of the Premier League)

He has a statue erected to him in Nottingham and this is photo of the said statue. It's the home of "Speakers Corner" in Nottingham and I've photographed some strangers next to Brian.

Brian was quite an outspoken manager and therefore speakers corner seems quite apt to be next to him....

"I wouldn't say I was the best manager in the business. But I was in the top one" – on his standing.

“We talk about it for 20 minutes and then we decide I was right” – on listening to players' opinions.

Creatively captured. And not being a football supporter myself, thanks for the information. That doesn't mean I havent heard of him.

So modest was Mr Clough! My brother had a season ticket for Forest for many years.

Fabulous shot and dof. I remember stopping to take pictures of Stanley Matthews at a square in the centre of Stock. He is their idol footballer.

Great capture of a great man. I lived very close to him when we lived in Billingham. I was quite young but I think it was when his wife had just had a baby.

I remember him well, a real character & he knew what was what! I’m surprised you didn’t follow Nottingham Forrest but perhaps you were brought up in Bolton…another story I’m sure!
