Another Place

One of the One Hundred metal figures inserted in 2.3 miles of beach in Crosby, 5 miles north of Liverpool who have been silently standing there since 2007.

The figurines, each one weighing 650 kilos, are made from casts of the artist's own body standing on the beach, all of them looking out to sea, staring at the horizon in silent expectation.

It’s uncanny and somewhat different to see.

I’m not sure what to think of this installation that we saw today. Apparently it’s supposed to signify what it’s like to live in a human body. Why a hundred of them over two miles & actually, maybe just “why?”
Certainly different!

This is an intriguing statue by itself, a hundred of them, well, I just can’t quite imagine how that must look. Disconcerting I’m sure.

A stunning view to see the 100 of these statues . this one covered in barnacles from the sea - makes this human statue look so diseased !!

Must be an amazing sight .. I have decided not to try and figure out 'why' of alot of sculptures ... I have seen these in photos before and it alway reminds me of 'Reggie Perrin' wonder if that was an insperation..

What's it supposed to mean? The body looks so real as if the guy had just come up from the deep, clad in seaweed and sand!

No wonder he/they are covered in barnacles ... I think they're an amazing sight though and that quantity must look so peculiar when the tide comes in.

It is v interesting to see this - but I much prefer the Sound 2 statue I can photograph in the crypt at Winchester Cathedral, also formed from a cast of his own body.
