Not long after we decided the sunset was in the wrong place and was going to be cr@p, Carole suddenly exclaimed, "Owl!!" We then stood and followed this stunning Barn Own as it went up and down the canal until it plunged into the bank and came up with dinner (a water vole or mouse we think) in its beak and went off under the bridge (it didn't come out, so we think its nest is under there). Such majestic creatures and utterly silent.
