Lilly of the Incas

Alstromeria, or the Peruvian Lilly, is a gorgeous flower, native to south America that is now very common in many many supermarkets here in the UK.

We have some in our garden, but they don't grow like the store ones, which are obviously only exposed to light from directly above to achieve their height and straightness.

This one is from the bunch I bought last week, almost dead now but good enough to go into the light box for one last photograph.
