Arthurian Knight by phil_sandford

Arthurian Knight

This one and a half life size statue of an Arthurian Knight, stands at the very top of Tintagel Castle in North Cornwall.

Legend has it, King Arthur and his Knights of the round table came from Tintagel Castle. Though to be honest, it is more than likely a legend created by the Cornwall tourist board

It is an impressive sight, if you are ever in the area.

so surreal. could be anywhere. another time definate fav

Oh, this is such a great statue. And right - reminded me of Darth Vader as well.

Oh, so wonderful. Uther, disguised as Gorlois, seducing Ingraine, producing Arthur, assisted by Merlin... right here!!! :). Wonderful shot, of a place that I hope to see one day. The Once and Future King lives on. Honestly, this pre-dates the tourism board, to be sure. :)

PS - you might want to try this in black and white. I would be curious.

Great. But I thought it was Darth Vader in the thumbnail!

Keep coming back to this - I wonder when this was put in place, I certainly don't recall it there (back in the day!!) I agree with the others that it has a feeling of mystical literary characters - we could do with him returning right now and putting things to rights!

It is apparently of King Arthur himself, and when it was installed, by helicopter, in April 2016, it caused a huge stir within the community.

@johnfalconer @vera365 @henrir I don't see the Darth Vader in this, mainly because of the huge sword 😜😜

I guess I saw the dark mask first!!!
May 10th, 2017
@johnfalconer His helmet is certainly very Darth Vader, so can see it from that point of view 😊

That's our King Arthur statue......not been there that long actually......and there was a lot of locals resentment about it going up there......however, it is weathering and is proving very popular with visitors.....
