Harvest of the suger beets

I was n`t quite finish with the butterflies and flowers pic but I drove yesterday trough the country and did take some pic from the harvest and I like to share it.
The beets are waiting to be load for the factory and the farmer have already plough the field as you can see in the top-left pic.
Looks like a great crop of beets! wonderful collage!

Nice of you to take a picture of the ploughed field together with the harvested sugarbeets.. they make such a interesting collage. are the sugarbeets not usually purple in color..or am I mixing these sugarbeets up purple beets we see in the stores?

This is quite nostalgic for me as where I was born and brought up in Suffolk in the east of England, sugar was quite a predominant crop. We could also smell that sweet sickly tang from the factory when they were being processed - I can smell it now!

@bruni I think you mean beetroot which are purple and can be eaten for salad, pickled, or maybe roasted. Sugar beet are a sort of dirty white colour.

It is a long time since I last saw heaps of sugar beets in the country side. Maybe European Union made the sugar beets to disappear from Finland?
