Great find and a great capture. Those are cool looking windmills. We have them here, too, Pyrrhula.

I find it so interesting to read the many ways people respond to these. I've yet to hear how much good they actually do. I think they're terribly unattractive and a blight on beautiful landscapes! To each his own, of course...I hope you don't mind me adding my honest reaction to the subject matter. Your photo is quite good and causes a reaction in me, which art should do!

Interesting capture, yes they are essential.

Great capture !!

Good capture. Here in Western Australia, even we are a windy part of the continent, we do no have many windmill farms.

I really love hearing & seeing different things about Holland! Cool windmill field! We mostly have the old kind around here.

Holland and it's windmills. I would prefer the old one any time.

They don't look like the windmills in my old history books! 😊

Yes I like the traditional, but these are very much needed I would say Well taken

Love the wide open feel to the shot. (We have these too!) Look forward to more flowers, Ferry!

Lovely view. There is no place on the land where we could have a wind farm in Malta. Our government was toying with the idea of building one on the sea but it seems to be very expensive.

Great shot of the big metal flowers. They are a lot better than coal smoke.

A great shot with leading lines - Lucy

Like this, the road, the perspective and the wind turbines.

@ivan If you`ve a closer look you can see the cool tower of the nuclear power plant at Doel ,Belgium. (Behind the bushes at the left hand side of the road)

@sangwann We do build them on sea to. Very big and large ones.

@Weezilou Maybe we have to get use to it. The old windmills where in fact factories/workshops . What do you think of the new cities they are build now? In our country the population increase in +/- 50 years from 8 million to 17 million and still going on. All those people need houses and all those houses looks the seem in every city..

Nice to see the windmills.

We are seeing more and more of those here in Alberta as well

Lovely wind farm capture!!! We have lots of them near us. But this definitely isn't what I think of when I think of Holland!!! Nice diversity, though !!!

Interesting to see so many wind turbines. I hope there are still old fashioned windmills left in Holland. Great scene!

@pyrrhula Yes, I'm "Don Quixote" fighting the windmills alone! Seeing the notes from others, I remember the beauty of the "Dutch Windmills" that Holland is famous for! I won't win, I know, but I really do find the look of them disturbing...
July 1st, 2014
Yes, this is a scene I remember from Holland. I prefer the old fashioned ones though.

@bruni @skipt07 @777margo @lealady @cimes1 @Weezilou @anazad511 DON`T WORRY, we have the old one`s too, and a lot of them. Nearly each village from more then two houses has a windmill old style.

Poor Ferry :) You can see the rest of the world wants to know Holland *still* has charming windmills! I'm just being "an old foggie"...times are changing awfully fast and I'm not always along for the ride! I'm your friend...which is perhaps why I felt I could share my honest feelings... (I'm seldom so controversial!)

Looks interesting, I remember the old windmills from my school books.

Great capture. I miss the old windmills, but I know these new ones are the future.
