I did it. by pyrrhula

I did it.

I `ve finish this tree neck-lace to day . Polishing and waxing to the last, but that`s not the main reason I do this pic.
In a far past (12-03-`12) I got a asking by my dear friends and followers Hazel / quietpurplehaze and Sandi / gratefulness to do a close up of the woods I use. I thought it did not give an interesting pic. but get inspired by that and now I did .
The woods I`ve use are from down to top :

Lignum vitae is a trade wood, also called guayacan or guaiacum

Rosewood refers to any of a number of richly hued timbers, often brownish with darker veining but found in many different hues.

Wenge, a dark colored wood, is the product of Millettia laurentii. Other names sometimes used for wenge include African Rosewood, Faux Ebony, Dikela, Mibotu, Bokonge and Awong
hese look great. i love the darkest one.

They are beautiful. good work. I had a boss once who made pens out of wood. You reminded me of him when he talked about his pens. A real passion for wood

Your workmanship and an artistic flair for the beauty-of-simplicity shows in these gorgeous necklaces! I'm delighted you were asked to show a close up of the wood, and for telling us about them. The passion you feel for your work is clearly evident! It's lovely!

That is excellent is the silver stainless steel and it is a long time since I heard Lignum Vitae. When I could get it I used it for croquet mallets.

@carwyn3 Lignum Vitae. That wood I knew from ships. It has been used for bearings .The one on the end of rudder and screw shaft.
Now it`s protected and rare to find. Very expensive too. The last pieces I bought was € 30 Kg. by s.g. 1,4

Yes I know it is expensive but as far as I know you cannot get it in South Africa.

It's a brilliant collage, Ferry, and I love the inset too. My favourite is the rosewood. We have a wine table, inherited from my parents, one main leg with three feet, just circular with inlay in the centre of the top and I think this table is made from rosewood.

Ferry, I remember I posted a shot of it here: http://365project.org/quietpurplehaze/365/2013-02-24

Thank you for so thoughtfully answering our questions! It was very kind of you to remember, and to take the time to respond. You are a very skilled artisan, and I enjoy learning about your work! I especially think that the smaller photo inset in the lower left of the larger image does a particularly nice job of illustrating the differences in the woods. I love the darkness of wedge. I would have to say that's my favorite, although the slightly lighter lignin vitae would probably match more outfits if worn as a necklace or bracelet. The rosewood would be so beautiful for furniture! Your work is wonderful...The silver clasps provide a very clean and contemporary look. Fav, thank you so much! :)
