Windmill : De Hoop (Hope) Wolphaarsdijk-Holland by pyrrhula

Windmill : De Hoop (Hope) Wolphaarsdijk-Holland

This windmill was founded in 1808. In 1894 it was rebuild, and be made it 10 mtrs/ 33 feet higher as the old one because to catch the wind better, It also get then his rare shape. To my best knowledge , this is the only windmill in Holland with this appearance.
Fantastic capture! Windmills are my impressions of Holland along with tulips and dykes :) When i had the pleasure of driving through Holland for only 3 days these were the 3 things I had to see! Luckily my son was driving and he too kme through some villages off the freeways so I could enjoy them :) Fav

Such an interesting old windmill and thanks for explaining the unusual shape

Inderdaad, vrij hoog platform. Alsof de molen even opgetild is, naar de eerste verdieping. Echt Hollands plaatje, met de woonwijk en de fietsers erbij.

I just love the Windmills. There is a home here that the people built a windmill like this on the side of their home! I must get there and get a pic to show you, Thanks for sharing these wonderful buildings!

I was going to comment that this had such an unusual shape, but now I understand why I haven't seen more like this! It fascinates me that local people pass this daily and never give a thought to it. Yet, as a visitor to your country, any of us would be thrilled to see this (and take lots of photos of course!) Thank you for doing that for us until we can get there!
