I do this pic. to show how windmills are build if there are no hinders. The mill can be handle ( turn into the wind ad set sails on ) from the ground . The turning will be done by the turning the wheel and move the chain`s from pole to pole, as much as needed See pic. middle below . The whole head of the mill is turning. Setting sails by hand by climb into the vane. Two in this case. To work with the mill you need a wind-force from 4 to 7 Beaufort .
When the wind mill need to be higher you also need to make a balcony for this work , Like it`s to see in yesterday`s pic.

Another beautiful shot of a windmill - thanks! And thanks for the invitation. If I'm ever back in Europe I'd love to see these. However my son lived in Denmark for 3 years when i was over there in 1998. he is now back in Australia. Oh well, I might win tattslotto one day :)

Gorgeous! I know of only 2 working windmills in Malta similar to this - but the stonework is completely different. They are museum pieces now.

@sangwann Windmills has to be keep in use. They get much worse from doing nothing then from milling. We try to keep them milling, mostly done by by volunteers.

We have one history wind mill in Cape Town. it is amazing that it is still standing and in such good condition.
