Australia does this a lot...make big statues I mean to celebrate products of the area - the big banana, the big pineapple etc We even have the Big Gumboot in Tully, North Queensland. It stands 7.9m tall the record amount of rain that fell in the town in 1950. see http://www.cairnsunlimited.com/bigthings.htm if you are interested.
Wonderful capture and I agree with that it merits a monument if people earn a living out of oysters. I, too, prefer those old small shops where everybody talks to everybody. We went in the Milan gallery so that JP and Ian could see the architecture - I didn't need to because I had seen it already.
