The end of the flowers by pyrrhula

The end of the flowers

Remove/cutting off the flowers ( Koppen ) is necessary for growing the bulbs bigger . It`s the end of the colors on the fields
Thanks for showing the process.

I guess all the flower removal is done individually? That's a lot of work!

So sad! But certainly understandable from the business perspective.

Too bad....it was so beautiful. Waiting again for next year.

Wow. That is so interesting. I have to show this to my dad. We argue about that.
Nice shot

Oh that is very interesting and new to me. I suppose they do it with machines.

It had to be done, but I loved your earlier images with those rows of colour!

And they just throw them away? Eek!

So sad but necessary I suppose - but there is always next year !

Sad to see the fields empty of flowers after all that colours galore.

Wonderful looking collage.

I know that it is necessary for the bulb formation but it seems like such a waste. After seeing the beautiful Bloemencorso floats in Haarlem many years ago, I wondered if some of the farmers gave their flowers for them.

Interesting to see the process, but sad to see the end of all those lovely colourful fields - fav!

Thank you for showing us this process. I had never thought about it before. Sad to see the end of the colourful fields (with the petals in the paths) but, as others have said, there is next year.

How interesting! I love your pictures, especially the bottom one with the red stripe of culled flowers. I especially love the two little stubborn red flowers who survived the cutting.
