'wood': bark peeling off 'betula albosinensis'

I love these few Chinese red birch trees in the arboretum with their bark peeling off in strange patterns and lovely hues. Eventually I narrowed down all the shots I took to just two but I'm still not sure I've posted the right one!
Its a super shot and perfect for the 'word'! You can feel the fragility of the bark and the russet and yellow colours are just lovely.

@tishpics Thank you. Most of the birches in the arboretum are silver birches but I think these red ones are really special. I saw some bark on the ground once and wanted to pick it up and bring it home but daren't in case they thought I had been stripping it off!

A great shot to show all about what is a Betula albosinensis tree

@pyrrhula Well, once again I've learnt something! I didn't know the botanical name for this tree, or even that it was called Chinese red birch. All I knew really was that I loved the look of the tree! (The silver birches are lovely but this red birch I find really dramatic.)
