nearly 'black': a different colour of aquilegia

I had a discovery moment of happiness when I spied this plant in our garden this morning. Our aquilegia are all semi-wild and we have 3 shades of pink, several of blue/purple and one white. Ray says they are promiscuous..... On a more sober note it could be Granny's morning (or mourning) bonnet?
Tell Ray they are not promiscuous but hybrids converting to their natural origins !!( & there endeth the lesson --sorry did not mean to preach !!)Mine are also converting back 7 are in different shades oblue, purples , nearly black & a beautiful white one ( The latter has not been promiscuous !! )hhehehe !!!

So not familiar with this at all...but loving it!! Is this dried or is this how it looks in the garden?

Learning something every day :)

That's a very dramatic flower Hazel definitely a bit sombre, but makes a great shot.

Fabulous detail - I can see some bugs on it when viewed large. Hope they don't spoil it. Get the birds to do a bit of munching! LOL

@eyesmile

That's how I picked the flower from the garden. You can see other colours here http://365project.org/quietpurplehaze/365/2013-05-15 and probably see why they are called Granny's bonnets! Thanks for stopping by!

@malc

We've never had a yellow one (I saw one on Chelsesa on TV!). I found out today that this is called Black Barlow - mostly they are double ones but one for sale was single like this one.
