I'm using the word of the day 'sister' in A-must-for-August just to take a pause to remember my sister, Wendy, who was nearly 4 years younger than me.
She was a positive person and loved her husband, family, dogs and home life. As a little sister she could be annoying to me when I was 'bookish', teasing me because she wanted to play. We were the best friends when older and bringing up our own young families. She would have had grandchildren now: Chloé & Ewan, and Tommy & Evie Rose.
Unthinkable that it's now 18 years since she died - but it also seems like forever. Happy memories when you want to stop and remember them; the elasticity of time..............
I did feel for my dad at the time as he really could not believe what was happening. Four months after Wendy died, our son was also diagnosed with cancer - he's fine now.
I've already posted a collage of shots of Wendy and myself http://365project.org/quietpurplehaze/add-ins/2013-08-04 so was a bit stuck for a photo. I've used this gerbera from my last week's bunch of flowers: processed in Faststone frame mask and then in a collage with Picasa. The photo of Wendy was cropped and processed into b&w from the previous collage.
Lovely tribute. It must be very sad to lose a sister. I always wanted one but my mother said she couldn't have any more. I didn't believe her, but looking back she was almost 50 when I asked.
A great tribute to you be loved sister. So sorry for you lost . To die by old age I can accept but this it so sad.
Love the pic.`s processing and framing
Beautiful tribute to your "little" sister!!! Looked back at the lovely collage you made of the two of you and was touched by your memories!!! Sad how life goes on for the rest of us when we lose a loved one and yet they stand still in time as we live the rest of our lives. Thanks for sharing your story!!!
So sad, Hazel. But I really like what you've done here. I am glad you are sharing some memories with us. It sounds like your sister was a wonderful person!
I love your close crop aNd treatment of the gerber, it is wonderful. Such a lovely way to remember your sister. Good to know your son came through, what a scary time in your life
Claire, thank you for your comment and kind thoughts. The strange thing is that through that time of my sister dying and Neil's cancer treatment I managed to keep going, support him and not have a bipolar episode which is what normally happens to me in such circumstances.
